Editorial: "Obama Mosque"

On the 9th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, anti-"mosque" protestors took the opportunity to rally against the proposed Islamic Cultural Center at 51 Park Pl.

The amount of anger and hate that surged through the protestors was, in my opinion, a frightening look at what misinformation from the media can create in people: ignorance-based hate.

As a civilian, and as a journalist, I say with regret that this country is moving in the wrong direction in terms of its view of Muslims as well its interpretation of the constitution.

The trend of hate-mongering and punditry as legitimate news has created a new language that the people, as a whole, are adopting.

The protests on September 11th, 2010, were are manifestation of the effects of an ubiquitous, ambiguous, and agenda-driven media.
